<div>Oct 31-Nov 2. Busy weekend. On Friday went to the Patron's Lounge at the Met to hear a marvelous Spanish pianist sing. Nov 1. On Saturday to Princeton, to the 80th birthday party of Jack Ellis. David Agler, the music director and conductor of Wozzek of the Princeton Opera, played the piano. Met Carl Shursky, the great central European social historian, and his wife. Neither Jack or David mentioned that the Princeton Opera was about to go bankrupt, and would not perform in 2004.Nov 2. On Sunday back to NY to hear Izumi play at St Mary the Virgin, an Episcopal church on 46th and Broadway. The church is near Times Square, nestled between 46th and 47th street, near an Irish bar, a Turkish Dervish restaurant, a 10 dollar barber, and a psychic office. The ceiling of the church is sky blue, littered with yellow stars. Izumi gave the organ a workout; the din was loud enough to raise the dead. Works by Alain and Durufle.Nov 8. Dinner at the Solomon's under the eclipsed moon. They plan a trip to Italy. Susan is currently revising her book on children's playgrounds.Nov 28. Thanksgiving dinner, prepared by Pat and Marie, at the Ur-site in Greenbury. Stuffed outselves with turkey, then the next day bought new luggage at the Value store at the Mall (at give-away prices). Made in China, of course. Nov 30. Paint the dining room with Glidden interior white. Two coats absorbed about 2 1/4 gallons. The Glidden white trim for the baseboards and window frames is not working well. Too streaky, even with second coat. Will try to thin paint with water.Dec 25. Christmas day! Marian got a new watch and a Sony Psyc bedside radio and CD. The Sony is a gorgeous blue bug. I got a combination tool set, flashlight, and radio. In other words, you can go down into the dark cellar, light it up with your flashlight, and fix the plumbing while you listen to Mozart on the radio set. Need 4 C batteries for this one.
